How to Identify a Professional Shoe Retailer

I know that you have experienced the following scenario: You enter a shoe shop, ask for a specific shoe and the sales lady directly brings you to the priciest shoe in the store. This is part of the store’s marketing tricks, regardless of whether we like the shoe or not. To make matters worse, the shoe size that fits us is not in stock, and then we are prodded to get the next size because there is little difference. When we are finally at the checkout counter, we ask for a discount or any freebie and all we get is a greasy smile and “No, unfortunately.”

If you have gone through this experience before, you have definitely not experienced the services of a professional shoe retailer. A true professional shoe retailer listens first to the needs of the customers or the customer before trying to figure out which model is best for each potential shoe buyer. Thereafter, several models are presented to a particular type of footwear, the price should not matter. The customer tries on different models and the saleslady provides expert advice on the pros and cons of each material, cut and design. In the end, the customer is asked about his or her personal views of the product and the seller recommends to the customer not necessarily the most expensive model, because this would only identify them as unprofessional sellers.

The price is not the main criterion of the sales call, otherwise they will change the mood and outlook of the seller towards them, negatively. Discontent and anger of the customer may ensue. Furthermore, the customer may well not return to the shop a second time because of being ill-advised.

Therefore, an expert shoe salesman explains various details and recommends the appropriate shoe and shoe care. Further, one can also negotiate with the professional shoe seller on the price of the desired shoes.
